"WOW, THERE'S A CHAINSAW IN YOUR NECK!"
OUTRAGEOUS EMERGENCY SITUATIONS ARE REVEALED IN AN ALL-NEW SEASON OF UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER"
(Silver Spring, MD) - Discovery Fit & Health pulls back the curtain to expose more outrageous medical situations when UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER returns to the network in July. In an environment where everything can change as quickly as the rip of a Band-Aid, prepare to witness the true, dramatic nature of medicine practiced under pressure - where nothing about the situation is routine and doctors have mere seconds to answer life-or-death questions. Who is treated first when two people are impaled together on a fence post due to a freak skydiving accident? How did a man wind up with a cleat in his head and a hook in his leg? What is causing a patient to inexplicably turn blue - or purple? Your move, Doc. Each hour-long episode of UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER features emergency physicians revisiting the cases they weren't exactly taught in med school and highlights how a doctor's personal blend of expertise, coolness under fire, and decision-making ability are challenged by unpredictable circumstances. Breaking open the secret world of emergency rooms, doctors and patients retell their greatest moments when UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER premieres Friday, July 11 at 9/8c on Discovery Fit & Health.
"UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER showcases true medical heroes who are able to rise to the occasion during unprecedented situations where protocol simply doesn't exist," said Jane Latman, general manager of Discovery Fit & Health. "We are proud to be the home for this long running, got-to-see-it-to-believe-it series that spotlights the outstanding professionals who have to adapt to the unexpected every day."
In the premiere episode airing July 11 at 9/8c, Dr. Slay meets a man with a giant alligator snapping turtle clamped to his neck. With the gaming commission on his back, Dr. Slay needs to find a way to ensure that his patients - both human and reptilian - come out alive. Then, paramedics are never fully prepared for what they'll find on scene. When called to a workplace accident, they're shocked to find a man who was impaled by a chainsaw 20 feet in the air - and then climbed down with it still in his neck! Finally, Dr. Crider races against an impending hurricane to clear the ER of patients before it hits but can't quite figure out what's driven a patient to delirium.
Unusual, touching, humorous, or life-changing, these intense stories demonstrate the scope of work achieved by ER doctors in a "typical" day that includes many twists and turns and show how character and quick thinking can make the ultimate difference on both sides of the operating table. Additional stories covered this season include: a bride hours away from her wedding who can't get her finger out of a makeup jar, multiple unresponsive teenagers, an airplane crash survivor, and a man who is scalped.
UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER is produced for Discovery Fit & Health by GRB Entertainment. For GRB, Gary R. Benz, Michael Branton and Bob Niemack are executive producers.
