NBC WINS THE NIGHT WITH A 62 PERCENT INCREASE OVER ITS YEAR-AGO 18-49 AVERAGE

BURBANK, Calif. � October 14, 2006 � NBC's series premiere of "1 vs 100" has delivered the network's highest Friday 9 p.m. ET rating in adults 18-49, excluding Olympics, since December 2002 and highest overall viewer total in the time period, excluding Olympics, since March 2004, according to preliminary "live plus same day" "fast affiliate-based" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

At 9 p.m. ET last night, the debut of "1 vs 100" (4.1 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49, 12.6 million viewers overall) dominated the hour with NBC's highest non-Olympic 18-49 rating in the time period since December 27, 2002 ("Dateline NBC"). In total viewers, this is NBC's biggest overall audience in the time slot, excluding Olympics, since March 19, 2004 ("Dateline NBC").

"1 vs 100" improved on its 18-49 lead-in by 28 percent and on NBC's rating in this slot on the same night last year by 86 percent (4.1/13 vs. 2.2/7). The "1 vs 100" margin of victory in the time period was 52 percent in 18-49 (4.1/13 vs. 2.7/8 for CBS' second-place "Close to Home") and 1.5 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, the premiere of "1 vs 100" grew by 0.3 of a rating point (to a 4.3/13 from a 4.0/13).

"1 vs 100" was the night's #1 telecast in 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

At 8 p.m. ET last night, "Deal or No Deal" (3.2/11 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) won the time slot in 18-49, total viewers and other key categories, improving by 88 percent on NBC's 18-49 rating in this time period on the same night last year (3.2/11 vs. 1.7/6).

At 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order" (2.9/9 in 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall) is currently tied for #2 in 18-49, a tenth of a rating point out of first place, and #1, pending updates, among adults and women 18-34.

NBC is #1 for the night in 18-49 and total viewers. The network's 18-49 average (3.4/11) is up 62 percent versus the same night last year and the overall viewer total (11.1 million) is up by 3.7 million persons. This is NBC's third Friday win in four weeks this season in 18-49 and first Friday win of the season in total viewers.

Preliminary nightlong adult 18-49 averages for Friday are: NBC, 3.4/11; CBS, 2.8/9; Fox, 2.5/8; ABC, 2.1/7; CW, 1.3/4. Among overall total viewers, preliminary October 13 results are: NBC, 11.1 million; CBS, 10.7 million; Fox, 8.3 million; ABC, 6.8 million; CW, 3.7 million.

In local-market late-night results, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (4.4 rating, 10 share in metered-market households) defeated CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" (3.3/8) and ABC's "Nightline" (3.1/7) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (1.6/5). "Tonight" has finished #1 against regular competition on 20 of 20 nights so far this season in the local markets.

At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (2.1/7 in metered-market households) topped CBS' "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.6/5) and the second half of "Kimmel." "Late Night" has finished #1 against regular competition on 20 of 20 nights so far this season in the local markets (including a tie).
