"Sunday Night Football" Delivers Greater Overnight Rating Than "Television's Biggest Night" & Scored Win for NBC
Chargers/Patriots Sunday Night Game Outscores Fox & CBS Football
NEW YORK � September 17, 2007 � The New England Patriots 38-14 blowout victory over the San Diego Chargers on NBC's "Sunday Night Football," which faced strong competition from the Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast on Fox and baseball featuring the Yankees vs. Red Sox on ESPN, delivered an overnight rating of 11.7/18 to score a victory over the Primetime Emmy Awards on Fox, and was the highest rated broadcast of the night on any network. The Emmy's overnight rating of 10.5/16 is down 20% from last year's overnight rating of 13.1/20 which was on NBC in August and did not compete head-to-head against football.
The "Sunday Night Football" telecast also scored a victory over CBS' Sunday football (10.4/23 early regional game, 11.6/22 late national game) and Fox Sunday football (11.0/23).
