Fast Facts for Sunday, November 25, 2007 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

Opposite a Huge NFL Contest on NBC (Patriots-Eagles), ABC Defeats an NFL Overrun-Boosted CBS by 16% and Fox's Animated Lineup by 39% in Adults 18-49

ABC Attracts its Biggest Non-Oscar Sunday Audience in Over 9 Months And Broadcasts TV's Top 3 Entertainment Programs on the Evening

ABC's "Home Edition," "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers & Sisters" Each Beat their Non-Sports Competition in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

Sunday Primetime (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

Putting up some of its top numbers this season, ABC was competitive on Sunday night in Total Viewers (14.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (5.0/12), despite going up against NBC and its highly anticipated "Sunday Night Football" (New England-Philadelphia) coverage (15.6 million & 6.0/15 based on Nielsen's preliminary primetime "fast affiliate" averages) and an NFL-boosted CBS with an overrun into primetime (15.4 million & 4.3/10 based on Nielsen's preliminary primetime "fast affiliate" averages). During prime in Adults 18-49, ABC (5.0/12) outpaced an NFL-lifted CBS by 16% (4.3/10) and Fox's animated lineup by 39% (3.6/8). For the 8th time in the 9 Sundays this season, ABC ranked a definitive No. 1 on the evening across the key women demographics: W18-34 (5.3/14), W18-49 (6.6/16) and W25-54 (7.5/16).

ABC drew its largest audience this season and marked its top Adult 18-49 rating since Season Premiere Sunday on 9/30/07. In fact it was ABC's biggest non-Oscar Sunday audience in more than 9 months since 2/11/07.

For its 8th consecutive airing this season (on each of the series' telecasts), ABC's "Desperate Housewives" qualified the night's No. 1 TV series in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. In addition, ABC aired the Top 3 entertainment shows of the night in the key Adult 18-49 sales demo with "Housewives," "Home Edition" and " Brothers & Sisters," respectively.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition-7P" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Among Total Viewers (10.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.4/9), a special 7:00 p.m. edition of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" took second place in its hour to CBS' high-rated NFL overrun.

The special "Home Edition" delivered ABC's top results in the time period since February since 2/25/07.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

The No. 1 non-sports program during the 8 o'clock hour, ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" dominated its nearest entertainment competition, Fox's animated comedies ("The Simpsons" /"King of the Hill"), by 25% (5.0/11 vs. 4.0/9).

"Desperate Housewives" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Sunday's No. 1 TV series for its 8th straight telecast, ABC's "Desperate Housewives" overshadowed its non-sports competition in the time slot by 6.3 million viewers (18.5 million vs. 12.2 million CBS' "Amazing Race") and by 57% in Adults 18-49 (6.9/15 vs. 4.4/9 Fox's "Family Guy"/"American Dad").

"Brothers & Sisters" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" outdelivered its non-sports competition during Sunday's 10 o'clock hour, CBS' "Cold Case," in Total Viewers (12.5 million vs. 12.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.8/11 vs. 3.1/7). The ABC sophomore series won the hour, beating NBC's NFL coverage, across each of the key women demographics: W18-34 (5.6/15), W18-49 (6.7/16) and W25-54 (7.5/17).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 10% during the same point in 2006 up to over 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
