Fast Facts for Sunday, January 27, 2008 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

ABC Dominates Sunday Night in Adults 18-49, Beating Second-Place Fox by 32%, Third-Place CBS by 61% and Fourth-Place NBC by 147%

Hitting a Season High, "Funniest Home Videos" Wins at 7pm in Adults 18-49

Sunday's No. 1 TV Program Among Adults 18-49, ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Leads its Time Slot by 1.8 Million Viewers and by 46% in Adults 18-49

Sunday Primetime (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC posted a dominant victory on Sunday in Adults 18-49 (3.7/9), outperforming second-place Fox on the evening by 32% (2.8/7), third-place CBS by 61% (2.3/6) and fourth-place NBC by 147% (1.5/4). Both CBS and NBC ran all original programming on the evening. ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" qualified as Sunday's No. 1 TV program in the key young adult sales demo.

"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

Hitting a season-high, ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" won the opening hour of the night in Adults 18-49 (2.8/8), matching the series' highest rating since last March since 3/4/07.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC's 2-hour episode "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" beat its nearest competition in its time period by 1.8 million viewers (13.6 million vs. 11.8 million - CBS) and by 46% in Adults 18-49 (5.1/12 vs. 3.5/9 Fox). In fact the veteran ABC unscripted series ranked No. 1 in each half-hour, growing by 2.3 million viewers (12.4 million to 14.7 million) and by 24% in Adults 18-49 (4.5/11 to 5.6/13) from its first to its final half-hour.

"Home Edition" was up from the prior week by 3.1 million viewers and by 34% in Adults 18-49 (10.5 million & 3.8/8 on 1/20/08).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has nearly doubled from over 11% at the same point in 2006, approaching 22% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
