"Project Runway" Sews Up Highest Rated Season Ever And "Top Design" Posts Double Digit Growth In All Key Demos
NEW YORK � October 16, 2008 � In the face of stiff competition with the last Presidential debate airing simultaneously, Bravo's Peabody Award-winning and Emmy-nominated "Project Runway" season five finale helped the series tie up its highest rated season ever in all key demos according to Nielsen Media Research. The finale � in which Leanne Marshall sewed up the win � was the No. 1 cable entertainment telecast of the day and between the show's original airing at 9 p.m. and repeat viewings at 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., aggregated 4.790 million adults 18-49 and a whopping 7.158 total viewers. The "Project Runway 5" finale scored the network's highest 9 p.m. telecast ever with 3.171 million adults 18-49 and 4.787 million total viewers last night.
"Project Runway's" fifth season averaged 2.378 million adults 18-49 (vs. 2.286 million) and 3.580 million total viewers (vs. 3.294 million) versus season four, making it the series' highest rated season ever. Last night's encore episode at 11 p.m. earned an impressive 1.117 million adults 18-49 and 1.603 million total viewers, and at 12 a.m. scored 502,000 adults 18-49 and 768, 000 total viewers.
Additionally, Bravo saw huge gains with "Top Design" which posted double digit growth in all key demographics. The series delivered 1.121 million adults 18-49 (vs. 616,000) and 1.756 million total viewers (vs. 1.015 million), up 82 percent and up 73 percent respectively versus the prior season's equivalent episode. Through seven episodes, "Top Design" is up 73 percent among adults 18-49 and 67 percent among total viewers versus the prior season's equivalent episodes.
