LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 -- The poignant Lifetime Television original movie Prayers for Bobby impacted 3.8 million total viewers (3.1 HH rating) during its Saturday, January 24, premiere at 9 PM (ET/PT), and drew 2.3 million viewers (1.7 HH rating) with its subsequent repeat on Sunday, January 25, at 8 PM (ET/PT).
Prayers for Bobby continues the Network's year-long success in producing popular made-for-television movies, joining other most-watched originals such as The Memory Keeper's Daughter (5.8 million viewers), Coco Chanel (5.2 million), The Two Mr. Kissels (4.2 million viewers) and Flirting with Forty (4 million).
In other key premiere demographics, Prayers for Bobby averaged a 1.8 rating among Women 18-49 (1 million) and a 2.0 rating among Women 25-54 (1.1 million).
Online, the Prayers for Bobby Saturday premiere increased mylifetime.com's web traffic by an impressive 169 percent in page views versus the same time period a week prior.
Prayers for Bobby, based on Leroy Aarons' book of the same name, tells the real-life story of Mary Griffith, a profoundly religious wife and mother who questioned her faith after the suicide of her gay son. The emotionally charged role of Griffith is played by Oscar(R) nominee and Golden Globe(R) winner Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl), marking her television movie debut.
Viewers can look forward to Lifetime's next original movie America, starring Rosie O'Donnell and premiering Saturday, February 28, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT).
