Discovery Communications Posts Ratings Gains Among All Networks in Q109

(New York, N.Y.) Discovery Communications' portfolio of seven Nielsen rated networks continued to outpace broadcast and all other non-Discovery ad-supported cable networks in key demos in 1Q09 vs. 1Q08, increasing 6% in primetime among P2+ delivery versus 1% among cable and flat among broadcast. In P18-49, Discovery Communications is up 5%, while cable is down -1% and broadcast down -2%.
Discovery Communications' fully distributed and emerging networks experienced significant quarter-over-quarter growth in key demos, consecutive monthly wins and best-ever claims.

New series, "American Loggers" (Fridays 10 p.m.) experienced double-digits increases vs. its 1Q08 timeslot in P2+, P/M/W 25-54, P/M/W 18-49, and in March, the series was #2 in its timeslot among M25-54 behind only SyFy's "Battlestar Galactica."

Season finale of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" (March 23, 9-10 p.m. ET/PT) was the highest rated Jon and Kate Plus 8 episode ever among P2+, P25-54, W25-54, P18-49 and W18-49, delivering 1.837k W18-49 and 1.096k W18-34, beating NBC's "Heroes" and CW's "One Tree Hill" in W18-49 (3% and 70%, respectively), topping NBC, CW, CBS's "Two and a Half Men"/"Rules of Engagement" and FOX's 24 in W18-34 (32%, 41%, 16% and 23%, respectively)
TLC's newest family, "Table For 12" (March 23, 10-11 p.m.) debuted higher than any other new series premiere in the past year among P2+ (1.607k), P25-54 (782k), W25-54 (608k), P18-49 (1008k), W18-49 (817k) and W18-34 (493k).
