"the forgotten" Beats NBC's "Jay Leno" at 10pm in Both Viewers and Adults 18-49, While Hitting Best-Since-Premiere-Numbers Across All Key Women Demos

Tuesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

Growing week to week in viewers and young adults, ABC's Tuesday lineup delivered its largest audience (8.8 million) and highest Adults 18-49 number (2.2/6) since premiere Tuesday (9/22/09). For the night, ABC topped Fox by 10% (8.0 million) and NBC by 11% (7.9 million).

"Shark Tank" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Building its overall audience for the second week in a row, ABC's "Shark Tank" turned in a time-period best performances in Total Viewers (5.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.6/4).

Opposite established time period competition, including the first hour of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" season finale, "Shark Tank" grew in Total Viewers (5.3 million to 5.5 million) and by 23% among Adults 18-49 (1.5/4 to 1.7/4) from start to finish.

"Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Surging from its lead-in (+8.1 million viewers & +75% in AD18-49), ABC's "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" hit season highs in both Total Viewers (13.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.8/7). Taking second in the hour in viewers, "DWTS the Results" outdrew the second hour of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" season finale by 5.3 million (8.2 million) and the second half of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" by a best-yet 4.0 million viewers (9.5 million). Mixed Martial Artist and Ultimate Fighting Champion Chuck Liddell was the fifth dancer to be eliminated from the competition this season.

"the forgotten" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Up over the previous week in young adults, "the forgotten" placed second in the final hour of primetime, beating NBC's "Jay Leno" in both Total Viewers (7.6 million vs. 5.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.0/6 vs. 1.8/5).

"the forgotten" posted best-since-premiere numbers across each of the key Women demographics: W18-34 2.0/6, W18-49 2.8/7, and W25-54 3.4/9.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to more than 33% currently, from 27% at the same point in 2008. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
