"NIGHTLINE" BESTS "TONIGHT SHOW" IN TOTAL VIEWERS 16 WEEKS IN A ROW
"NIGHTLINE" REMAINS SOLID #2, OUTPERFORMING "TONIGHT"
IN BOTH A25-54 AND A18-49
"NIGHTLINE" GROWS +9% AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS YEAR TO YEAR
WHILE "TONIGHT SHOW" DECLINES -49%
ABC News' "Nightline" is #2 among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the week of October 5, 2009, according to Nielsen Media Research. This marks the 16th consecutive week "Nightline" has outperformed NBC's "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" in Total Viewers and the third consecutive week among A25-54.
"Nightline" continues to experience solid growth compared to last year. The program grew +9% among Total Viewers versus the same week last year, as "Tonight" declined -49%. "Tonight" dropped to its lowest deliveries among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 since at least the 91-92 season.
Season to date, "Nightline" is up +8% among Total Viewers, while "Tonight" has declined
-48%.
ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
