Fueled by new and returning series and specials averaging 1.2M P2+ or more, including The Colony (1.6M), Surviving the Cut (1.5M), Man vs. Wild(1.7M), Man, Woman, Wild (1.3M), Dual Survival (1.7M), Deadliest Catch (4.9M), Beyond Survival with Les Stroud (1.2M) and Shark Week (3.3M), Discovery Channel experienced its best August ever in P/M/W 18-34 and M18-49, posting gains in key demos vs. August 09:
P2+ +6% (1287 v.1217)
P25-54 +4% (678 v.650)
P18-49 +7% (701 v.656)
M18-49 +6% (438 v.415)
P18-34 +18% (354 v.299)
M18-34 +15% (212 v.184)
In addition, new and returning series and specials posted double and triple-digit gains in all key demos vs. their respective time periods in August, many taking the top spot for the month, including, Deadliest Catch, #1 non-sports prime program in August among ad-supported cable in P/M 25-54/18-49 and Dual Survival,#1 ad-supported cable program in Friday prime among M 25-54/18-49.
In August, Discovery is the #4 ad-supported cable network among M18-49, and top 5 in Persons 18-49, M25-54, P/M 18-34.
