Nightline Bests "Letterman" 21 Consecutive Weeks in Total Viewers - First Time in 11 Years
ABC spins the late-night numbers for the week of August 30-September 3.

Ratings Report for ABC News' "Nightline" For the Week of August 30, 2010

"NIGHTLINE" BESTS "LETTERMAN" 21 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS IN TOTAL VIEWERS - FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS

"NIGHTLINE" GROWS WEEK TO WEEK IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND A25-54

For the 21st consecutive week, ABC News "Nightline" outperformed CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" among Total Viewers, posting 3.50 million to "Letterman's" 2.96 million, according to Nielsen Media Research. The last time this happened was in 1999. Also for the week of August 30, 2010 "Nightline" was the number two program among A25-54, A18-49 and Total Viewers. Week to week, "Nightline" grew +4% among A25-54, and +5% among Total Viewers.

Additionally, ABC News "Nightline" continues to rank first for the full 2009-2010 season-to-date with 3.72 million Total Viewers, outperforming CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" and NBC's "Tonight Show."

The weekly averages for "Nightline" and "Letterman" were based on four days only.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.

"JKL" is the Only Late Night Entertainment Program to See Increases Over the Previous Summer in Adults 18-49

Weekly National Ratings:

During the week of August 30, 2010, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was up over the previous week in both Total Viewers (1.49 million vs. 1.37 million) and Adult 18-49 audience (587,000 vs. 582,000).

· "JKL" improved on the year-ago week (w/o 8/30/09) in Total Viewers (1.49 million vs. 1.45 million). In fact, "JKL" built on its overall audience year to year in 11 of 14 weeks of the summer.

· ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" week of repeats outperformed CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" week of originals in both Total Viewers (1.49 million vs. 1.45 million) and Adults 18-49 (587,000 vs. 566,000), topping the CBS late night program with young adults for the 5th week in a row.

Summer 2010 (5/31 - 9/05/10):

During Summer 2010, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" posted increases of 11% in Total Viewers (1.52 million vs. 1.37 million) and 14% in Adults 18-49 (633,000 vs. 557,000) over Summer 2009. In fact, "JKL" is the only late night entertainment program to be up summer to summer in the key young adult demo. Furthermore, "JKL" attracted its largest summer audience in 4 years - since summer 2006.

· "JKL" bettered CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" during the summer across all key Adult demographics: Adults 18-34 (245,000 vs. 233,000), Adults 18-49 (633,000 vs. 596,000) and Adults 25-54 (742,000 vs. 734,000).
