ABC Claims TV's Top 3 Series in DVR Playback

DVR Playback for the week of 1/10/11 (Week #17):

ABC claimed 4 of TV's Top 5 biggest actual DVR Adult 18-49 gainers from the first-reported numbers to the playback finals, including each of the Top 3 with "Grey's Anatomy," "Modern Family" and "Desperate Housewives." For the 3rd straight week, ABC delivered the #1 television show in DVR playback gains, in the key young adult sales demo: "Grey's Anatomy" - #1 (+1.5 rating), "Modern Family" - #2 (+1.0 rating), "Desperate Housewives" - #3 (+0.9 rating) and "Castle" - #5 (+0.8 rating).

· As a result of DVR playback, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" emerged as TV's #1 scripted show for the week in Adults 18-49, leapfrogging over CBS's "NCIS" to top Nielsen's final rankings. Initially in the Live + Same Day statistics, "NCIS" was the top-rated scripted show for the week, by a margin of 2-tenths of a rating point.

· Also among Adults 18-49, ABC delivered 5 of the Top 6 series with the highest percentage increases, with each show picking up at least 35% from the first-reported overnight numbers: "Detroit 1-8-7" (+40%), "Castle" (+38%), "V" (+37%), "Brothers and Sisters" (+35%) and "Grey's Anatomy" (+35%).

· ABC broadcasted 4 of the week's Top 7 biggest overall Total Viewer gainers (including the Top 2) with each show picking up over 2 million viewers from the first-reported overnight numbers: "Grey's Anatomy" - #1 (+2.81 million), "Castle" - #2 (+2.49 million), "Desperate Housewives" - #6 (+2.08 million) and "Modern Family" - #7 (+2.06 million).

Season-to-Date DVR Playback:

This season, ABC airs TV's Top 2 biggest actual Adult 18-49 gainers, with "Grey's Anatomy" and "Modern Family" tied as the leaders. On average, both ABC series pick up an identical 1.4 rating points from the originally-reported numbers to the finalized DVR playback numbers.

· ABC's "Modern Family" and "Grey's Anatomy" are also TV's Top 2 highest-rated scripted series overall for the season in the key young adult sales demo.
