TNT's summer originals continued to lead the competition during the first week of August as The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles and the two-part Falling Skies season finale accounted for four of basic cable's Top 10 programs in total viewers.

Last Monday's episode of The Closer scored well over 7.9 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, with 2.3 million adults 18-49 and 3.1 million adults 25-54. Rizzoli & Isles followed with 8.3 million viewers in Live + 3, with 2.5 million adults 18-49 and 3.3 million adults 25-54. Both shows continue to run neck-and-neck as basic cable's top series of the year.

As reported yesterday, the two-hour season finale of Falling Skies captured 5.6 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery, with an outstanding 2.5 million adults 18-49 and 2.8 million adults 25-54, the show's best performance since the June 19 premiere. After scoring cable's top new series launch of the year, Falling Skies ranks as basic cable's #1 new show of 2011 among viewers and tops all scripted basic cable series this summer with adults 18-49 and 25-54.

On Wednesday night, TNT's hit legal drama Franklin & Bash closed out its first season with 3.6 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery. The season finale also scored 1.7 million adults 18-49 and 1.6 million adults 25-54 in Live + 3.

Tuesday night's episode of Memphis Beat drummed up 4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, including 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 25-54. HawthoRNe followed with 3.1 million viewers in Live + 3, including 1.2 million adults 18-49 and 1.3 million adults 25-54.

TNT's summer originals continue to deliver significant growth in time-shifted viewing. The blockbuster hit The Closer scored 8.4 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery for its July 18 episode. The same night's episode of Rizzoli & Isles grew to a remarkable 9 million viewers in Live + 7, beating its July 11 season premiere (8.6 million) by 4% and marking the fourth time the show has hit the 9 million mark.

Cartoon Network

Across the first week of August 2011, Cartoon Network's Total Day performance posted gains over the same time period last year - average kids 6-11 delivery (464,000) increased by 20%, kids 2-11 (694,000) increased by 12% and kids 9-14 (300,000) increased by 8%. Cartoon Network's Early Evening performance grew across the board as well - kids 6-11 (558,000) grew by 13%, kids 2-11 (809,000) grew by 3% and kids 9-14 (359,000) grew by 6%.

Cartoon Network's Monday night (7-9 p.m.) charted as TV's #1 destination for boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14, earning double-digit gains vs. the first week of August last year. Animated comedy series Johnny Test (7 p.m.), The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.), Adventure Time (8 p.m.), Regular Show (8:30 p.m.) and Secret Mountain Fort Awesome (8:30 p.m.) all ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among all key boy demos and all earned double and triple-digit gains among kids and boys.

Wednesday night (7-9 p.m.) saw delivery increases among all key kid and boy demos. A new episode of live-action series Destroy Build Destroy (8:30 p.m.) ranked # 1 among all key boy demos and charted significant delivery gains - kids 6-11 (640,000) grew by 36%, kids 2-11 (762,000) grew by 5%, and kids 9-14 (423,000) grew by 15%. Additionally, a new episode of the live-action series Dude, What Would Happen? (8p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 and 9-14.

Adult Swim

Adult Swim's original series Childrens Hospital (Thursday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 last week in its time period among men 18-34 and 18-49. NTSF:SD:SUV::, Adult Swim's newest original series to join the Thursday night lineup (12:15 a.m.) was #1 in its time period among men 18-34.

Adult Swim once again ranked #1 for Total Day Delivery of adults 18-24, 18-34 and 18-49, and men 18-24, 18-34 and 18-49. Earning respectable growth across its targeted demos, adults 18-34 average delivery (505,000) grew by 2% and adults 18-49 (729,000) grew by 6%.

Adult Swim programming accounted for 19 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and 26 of the top 50 among men 18-34, more than any other network.

TBS

TBS's Emmy(R)-nominated late-night series CONAN averaged 707,000 viewers last week in Live + Same Day delivery. The show also scored 349,000 adults 18-34 and 550,000 adults 18-49, the latter ticking up 2% over the prior week's episodes. Meanwhile, time-shifted viewing for episodes premiering the week of July 18 lifted CONAN's audience to 1 million viewers; 454,000 adults 18-34; and 713,000 adults 18-49 in Live + 7.

truTV

Hardcore Pawn continues to rule Tuesday nights for truTV, with last week's 9 p.m. episode averaging 1.9 million viewers and ranking among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot among key adult and male demos. The show continues to score triple-digit-percentage growth over the same time period last year.

Wednesday night's 9 p.m. episode of Operation Repo revved up 1.5 million viewers and ranked among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs for the timeslot with key adult demos. The long-running hit also scored double-digit gains for the time period.

Drawing in 1.4 million viewers Wednesday at 10 p.m., truTV's new hit South Beach Tow scored a Top 5 timeslot ranking among men 18-49, with solid time-period growth across the board.
