Quick Take for Monday, November 21, 2011 (National Live + Same Day Program Ratings)

ABC Stands as Monday's Most-Watched Net for the 10th Straight Week

With its Season Finale, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" Ranks as Monday's No. 1 Program in Total Viewers for the 7th Week in a Row

Series Debut of ABC's "You Deserve It" Outperforms its Unscripted Competition in the Hour, NBC's "The Sing Off," by 4.1 Million Viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49

ABC's "Castle" Ranks as Monday's Most-Watched Scripted Series In the 10 O' Clock Hour for its 9th Consecutive Telecast

Monday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

With "Dancing," "You Deserve It" and "Castle," ABC (13.1 million) stood as Monday's most-watched television network, beating CBS by 1.2 million viewers (11.9 million - "HIMYM"/"2 Broke Girls"/"Two and a Half Men"/"Mike & Molly"/"Hawaii Five-0"), Fox by 6.1 million viewers (7.0 million - "Terra Nova"/"House") and NBC by 9.1 million viewers (4.1 million - "The Sing Off"/"Rock Center with Brian Williams"). ABC qualified as Monday's No. 1 network in Total Viewers for the 10th time in 10 weeks this season. In addition among Adults 18-49 (2.5/6), ABC continued to top Fox on Monday (+9% - 2.3/6), while more than doubling NBC's young adult performance on the night (+108% - 1.2/3).

"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-9:01 p.m.)

With its Monday finale, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" (19.6 million) led its hour, taking ABC to the top spot in its time period among Total Viewers in all 10 of its telecasts this season. ABC's broad-skewing dance performance show registered as the No. 2 broadcast program its time slot in Adults 18-49, while running No. 1 with Adults 25-54 and key Women (W18-49/W25-54). ABC's "Dancing" qualified as Monday's most-watched TV show overall for its final 7 telecasts of the season.

"You Deserve It" (9:01-10:00 p.m.)

The series debut of ABC's "You Deserve It" topped its unscripted competition in the hour, NBC's "The Sing Off," by 4.1 million viewers (8.6 million vs. 4.5 million) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/4 vs. 1.5/4).

"Castle" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

For the 9th consecutive telecast this season, ABC's "Castle" qualified as Monday's most-watched scripted show during the 10 o'clock hour. "Castle" dwarfed NBC's "Rock Center with Brian Williams" in the hour, more than tripling the NBC newsmagazine in Total Viewers (+203% - 10.9 million vs. 3.6 million) and more than doubling its Adult 18-49 number (+156% - 2.3/6 vs. 0.9/2). "Castle" once again registered as Monday's most-watched drama series, outdrawing CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" (10.6 million), Fox's "House" (7.5 million) and Fox's "Terra Nova" (6.5 million).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 43% currently, from 38% at the same point in 2010.

More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
