ABC Grows Year to Year in Late-Night Two Weeks in a Row, as NBC and CBS Decline

ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Draws its 2nd-Biggest Repeat-Week Audience This Season

ABC Late-Night (Monday - Friday)

With its late-night lineup of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" during the week of March 5, 2012, ABC was up over the year-ago week by 7% in Total Viewers (2.181 million vs. 2.044 million). Growing its overall late-night audience year to year for the 2nd consecutive week, ABC was the only broadcaster to see yearly gains in Total Viewers (CBS was down -11%; NBC was down -2%).

"Nightline" (Monday - Friday)

For the week of March 5, 2012, ABC's "Nightline" ranked as the No. 1 program in late-night for the 2nd straight week across all target demos -- Total Viewers (3.731 million), Adults 25-54 (1.432 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.047 million) -- according to Nielsen Media Research. In fact, the ABC program has taken the top spot for the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks in all 3 measures.

Season to date, "Nightline" ranks No. 1 in late-night among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, ahead of both NBC's "The Tonight Show" and CBS' "The Late Show." This marks the 2nd straight year that the ABC program is taking the top spot in overall viewers and in the key adult news demo.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (Monday - Friday)

During the week of March 5, 2012, "Jimmy Kimmel Live's" week of repeats grew over its most recent repeat week (w/o 12/26/11) by 3% in Total Viewers (1.605 million vs. 1557 million) to attract its 2nd-biggest repeat audience this season. "JKL" was up over its year-ago repeat week by 10% in Total Viewers (1.454 million on w/o 3/7/11), delivering the largest year-to-year gain of any late-night talk show (broadcast or cable).

· ABC's "JKL" (M-F 12:00 a.m.) topped NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon's" week of repeats (M-F 12:35 a.m.) by 10% in Total Viewers (1.605 million vs. 1.458 million), marking the ABC late-night program's 2nd consecutive win over the NBC program.

· ABC's "JKL's" week of repeats outperformed CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson's" (M-F 12:35 a.m.) week of originals by 15% in Total Viewers (1.605 million vs. 1.390 million) to lead the CBS program for the 24th time in the 25 weeks of the season. Further, each repeat telecast of "JKL" drew a larger overall audience than each corresponding original telecast of "Ferguson" on every night of the week.

· Season to date (25 weeks), "JKL" is building on its overall audience through the same weeks last year by 3% in Total Viewers (1.758 million vs. 1.702 million), growing the most year to year of any late-night broadcast talk show.
