ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Grows for the 3rd Straight Week to its Biggest Audience Since November

Some early points on Jimmy Kimmel Live's weekly numbers, ahead of the regular press release:

During the week of April 9, 2012, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live grew for the 3rd straight week in Total Viewers to draw its biggest audience in nearly 5 months - since the week of 11/21/11. JKL also grew for the 3rd consecutive week in Adults 18-49 to post a 4-week high - best since w/o 3/12/12. In addition, JKL built its overall audience by 8% over the same week last year, marking its 2nd straight week to deliver gains over the year-ago week.

· During the week, ABC's JKL stood as the #3 late-night talk show in Total Viewers, behind only NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman.

· ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live (M-F 12am) outdrew NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (M-F 12:35am) by double-digit margins for the 3rd week in a row in Total Viewers (+17%), leading the NBC program by impressive margins in all 4 of JKL's original telecasts of the week: Monday (+6%), Tuesday (+49%), Wednesday (+25%) and Thursday (+26%). The ABC late-night program beat Fallon by 12% in Adults 18-49, marking its 3rd straight win over the NBC program.

· ABC's JKL outperformed CBS' The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (M-F 12:35am) by an impressive 40% in Total Viewers, drawing a larger overall audience than the CBS program in 29 of the 30 weeks this season. In addition, JKL topped Ferguson by its largest margin of the season in Adults 18-49 (+40%). The ABC late-night program outperformed Ferguson by double-digit percentages in all 5 days of the week in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

· Season to date (30 weeks), JKL is building its overall audience through the same weeks last year by 3% in Total Viewers, growing the most year to year of any late-night broadcast talk show.

ABC Late-Night (Monday - Friday)

With its late-night lineup of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" during the week of April 9, 2012, ABC saw increases over the prior week in Total Viewers (+2% - 2.448 million vs. 2.398 million) and, for the 3rd week in a row, in Adults 18-49 (+7% - 834,000 vs. 778,000) to qualify as the only broadcaster in late-night to grow week to week (CBS was down -5%/-11% respectively; NBC was down -5%/-1%, respectively). ABC generated its largest audience in late-night since November and its best Adult 18-49 number since January - since the weeks of 11/21/11 and 1/16/12, respectively.

ABC also grew its overall late-night audience year to year for the 2nd consecutive week (+6%) and once again stood as the only broadcaster to see yearly growth in Total Viewers (CBS was down -14%; NBC was flat).

For the 3rd week running and the 5th time in the last 6 weeks, ABC qualified as the most-watched network in late-night in Total Viewers (2.448 million), topping CBS by 15% (2.122 million) and NBC by 14% (2.139 million).

ABC also ranked as the No. 1 network in late-night in Adults 18-49 (834,000), beating both CBS (+18% - 708,000) and NBC (+16% - 717,000) by hefty double-digit margins.

"Nightline" (Monday - Friday)

ABC's "Nightline" stood as the No. 1 program in late-night for the 3rd straight week across all target demos -- Total Viewers (3.996 million), Adults 25-54 (1.623 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.246 million) -- for the week of April 9, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research. For the 6th time in the last 7 weeks "Nightline" has ranked No. 1 in all 3 measures.

"Nightline" improved week to week in Total Viewers (+1%), Adults 25-54 (+13%) and Adults 18-49 (+14%). "Nightline" turned in its strongest Adults 18-49 performance in nearly 2 months - since w/o 1/16/12.

"Nightline" was up over the same week last year in Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%), standing as the only program to grow year to year in both measures versus NBC's "The Tonight Show" (-4% and -10%, respectively) and CBS' "The Late Show" (-14% and -20%, respectively).

Excluding the 2-day average of Thanksgiving week, "Nightline" led NBC's "The Tonight Show" during a week of originals with its largest margins of the season in all 3 demos: Total Viewers (576,000), Adults 25-54 (286,000) and Adults 25-54 (211,000).

Similarly, "Nightline" turned in its largest non-Thanksgiving week advantages of the season over CBS' "The Late Show" in Adults 25-54 (411,000) and Adults 18-49 (319,000).
