DISCOVERY CHANNEL HAD TOP TWO SHOWS ON CABLE FRIDAY NIGHT WITH ALL-NEW "GOLD RUSH" SPECIALS

DISCOVERY CONTINUES FRIDAY NIGHT ADVENTURE PROGRAMMING WITH ALL-NEW SERIES "BERING SEA GOLD: UNDER THE ICE" AND "YUKON MEN"

(Silver Spring, Md.) - After a successful SHARK WEEK, Discovery's all-new special GOLD RUSH: THE JUNGLE (premiering August 17 at 9PM E/P) secured the top spot in all of cable Friday night among P/M 25-54 and P/M 18-49 delivery. Earning a 1.85HH / 1.48 P25-54, the one-hour program delivered an average of 2.65 million viewers P2+. GOLD RUSH: AFTERSHOW (premiering August 17 at 10PM E/P), earned a 1.37HH / 1.13 P25-54 and was the #2 in cable among P/M 25-54 and M18-49 delivery. The one-hour special was watched by 2.03 million P2+.

In GOLD RUSH: THE JUNGLE, Todd Hoffman turned his attention south to gold prospecting in Guyana after the frozen ground forces them out of the Klondike for the winter. Todd and a small scouting team took the 4,600-mile trip from Sandy, Oregon to Guyana, South America to see if mining there really is viable. The crew got caught up in a shady business deal, trekked through snake infested jungle and made their way up deadly rivers in a 'no guts no glory' adventure.

Friday night adventure programming continues on Discovery Channel with two all-new series launching August 24th. At 9PM E/P, BERING SEA GOLD: UNDER THE ICE kicks off as daring miners set their sights on frozen gold far beneath the ice covered Bering Sea. After cutting through four feet of solid ice to reach the sea floor 25 feet below, three teams of miners dive under the ice to dredge for gold. Two teams struggle to winterize their operations and train their crews, while one scrappy crew of friends hit pay dirt.

Then at 10PM E/P YUKON MEN makes its debut. In the premiere episode, the residents of Tanana, Alaska are about to face one of the most brutal winters on record. People struggle to find food and heat; battle life-threatening predators just to survive. Boys grow into men quickly here because they must help the family survive. Father-son bonding and tensions take on a new meaning in this environment. The stakes are high in Tanana, and to defy the odds, to survive and to battle the harsh Alaskan wilderness, the residents must overcome obstacles, stick together and prevail.
