TNT's Summer Originals Dominated the Basic Cable Ratings Charts Last Week

TNT's summer originals dominated the basic cable ratings charts last week, claiming such victories as:

- Basic cable's #1 program among total viewers: Rizzoli & Isles

- Basic cable's Top 4 dramas with adults 25-54: Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, Major Crimes and Perception

- Basic cable's #1 drama with adults 18-49: Falling Skies

- Two of basic cable's Top 5 dramas with adults 18-49: Falling Skies and Rizzoli & Isles

- 4 of basic cable's Top 6 dramas in total viewers: Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes, Perception and Falling Skies

TNT also has big news on the time-shifted viewing front, as the June 25 season premiere of the blockbuster drama Rizzoli & Isles grew to a final Live + 7 delivery of 9.4 million viewers. That makes it basic cable's most-watched drama telecast for the summer-to-date and easily eclipses last year's season premiere by a whopping +18%. In the demos, the premiere of Rizzoli & Isles scored 3.2 million adults 25-54 (+9% vs. the season 3 premiere) and 2.6 million adults 18-49 (+6%).

Perception got its second season off to a strong start, bringing in 5.9 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery for its June 25 premiere. In key demos, the season opener earned more than 2.0 million adults 25-54 and 1.5 million adults 18-49.

Last Tuesday's episode of Rizzoli & Isles - which ranked as basic cable's #1 program for the week among viewers and #1 drama with adults 25-54 - has averaged 7.5 million viewers in Live + 3. In key demos, last week's episode has grown to 2.5 million adults 25-54 and 2.0 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3. Meanwhile, last Tuesday's episode of Perception has attracted 5.4 million viewers in Live + 3 (+5% vs. the prior week), including 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.3 million adults 18-49.

Sunday's episode of Falling Skies has averaged 3.3 million viewers in Live + Same Day, with 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49. Meanwhile, Falling Skies' July 7 episode has expanded to 4.9 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery so far, while its demos rose slightly over the prior week to 2.7 million adults 25-54 and 2.3 million adults 18-49. And the June 30 episode topped out with 5.5 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, including 3.0 million adults 25-54 and 2.5 million adults 18-49.

Last week's episode of the TNT hit Major Crimes has climbed to 6.3 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, including 2.2 million adults 25-54 (+9% vs. the prior week) and 1.6 million adults 18-49 (+13% vs. the prior week). King & Maxwell has drawn more than 4 million viewers in Live + 3 for its July 8 episode, including 1.1 million adults 25-54 (+3% vs. the prior week) and 845,000 adults 18-49 (+4% vs. the prior week).

Wednesday night's episode of the light-hearted legal drama Franklin & Bash has summoned 3.0 million viewers in Live + 3, including 1.2 million adults 25-54 and 1.1 million adults 18-49.

TNT's exclusive presentation of the Camping World RV Sales 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway ranked as basic cable's #1 program for the week among adults 25-54 (2.3 million) and basic cable's #1 sporting event for the week among total viewers (4.9 million) and adults 18-49 (1.6 million). The race delivered a 3.2 U.S. HH rating, which was up 3% over last year's comparable telecast (3.1 U.S. HH rating). The race was also up 3% with total viewers (vs. 4.7 million). Throughout TNT's six-week NASCAR Summer Series schedule, each race telecast delivered the #1 sporting event of the day.

TBS

TBS's comedy lineup propelled the network to a first-place finish for the week as basic cable's #1 network among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 in primetime.

Thursday night's episode of the hit TBS comedy Sullivan & Son has garnered more than 2.2 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery. Among key demos, Thursday's installment has drawn more than 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 640,000 adults 18-34, growing +13% in the latter demo compared to the show's previous episode.

For the week, TBS claimed 16 of basic cable's Top 20 primetime sitcom telecasts among total viewers and 18 of the Top 20 among adults 18-49.

Adult Swim

Once again this month, Adult Swim's Total Day Delivery ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 on basic cable for the week. Compared to the same week in 2012, Total day delivery grew across all targeted demos - adults 18-24 by 11%, adults 18-34 by 8%, adults 18-49 by 7%, men 18-24 by 9%, men 18-34 by 11% and men 18-49 by 7%.

In Primetime (Broadcast definition), Adult Swim ranked #2 among basic cable networks for delivery of adults 18-34. Compared to the same week in 2012, Primetime delivery increased among adults 18-24 by 4%, adults 18-34 by 1%, men 18-24 by 14%, men 18-34 by 6% and men 18-49 by 5%.

A new episode premiere of The Venture Bros. (Sunday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults 18-34 & 18-49 and all men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49, growing by double-digits - ranging between 10% and 39% - among adults 18-34 & 18-49 and all male demos vs. the same time period last year.

The Sunday episode premiere of Bob's Burgers (11 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all targeted men, while the Monday night premiere (10 p.m.) increased among men 18-24 & 18-49 vs. the same time period last year.

The Saturday premiere episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.) and Naruto (12:30 a.m.) both ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among adults 18-24 and all targeted men demos. Similarly, One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 among adults 18-24 and men 18-24 & 18-34, and Soul Eater (1:30 a.m.) ranked #1 among men 18-24 & 18-34. All TOONAMI episode premieres grew delivery by double-digits among all adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and targeted men vs. the same time period last year.

Adult Swim programming accounted for 26 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and 35 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network scored last week as the #1 television destination for all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday night and Wednesday Night (7-9 p.m.), the #1 network among boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Tuesday Night, and the #1 network among boys 9-14 on Thursday Night.

Tuesday night increased overall delivery among kids 6-11 (3%) and boys 2-11 (4%) & 6-11 (22%) with a new episode of Teen Titans GO! (7:30 p.m.) ranking #1 in its timeslot among all targeted boy demos. Johnny Test (7 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 & 9-14.

New episode premieres of Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova (Saturday, 8:30 a.m.) and Beyblade: Metal Fury (Saturday, 8 a.m.) each ranked #1 in their respective time periods among boys 9-14.

truTV

truTV's hit series Lizard Lick Towing (Monday at 10 p.m.) returned for the second half of its third season, averaging more than 2.4 million viewers, a +10% gain over the show's season-to-date delivery. Among key demos, Lizard Lick Towing garnered more than 1.2 million adults 18-49 and 620,000 men 18-49. It ranked among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the 10 p.m. timeslot.

truTV's breakout hit Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday at 9 p.m.) rang up 2.3 million total viewers last week, with 969,000 adults 18-49 and 517,000 men 18-49. It ranked among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot in all three of those categories and posted double-digit gains compared to the prior week, including +46% among total viewers, +55% among adults 18-49 and +58% among men 18-49. To date, season 7 of Hardcore Pawn is averaging 2.2 million total viewers, 990,000 A18-49 and 520,000 M18-49.
