ABC's "Mistresses" Is Up 11% on Its Move to 9pm in Adults 18-49

At 8pm, ABC's repeat Shark Tank was up week to week in Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%).

Shifting back into the 9 o'clock hour for the first time, ABC's Mistresses grew over the prior week by 6% in viewers and by 11% in Adults 18-49. Season to date, the ABC freshman drama delivers an extremely upscale audience (index of 148), pulling in 48% higher numbers with Adults 18-49 in homes earning $150k+ annual income to make it the summer's top indexing broadcast drama. In addition, Mistresses is posting the biggest percentage gains via TV playback for any summer broadcast series, jumping 58% from its initially-reported Live + Same Day Adult 18-49 number to its final Live +7 Day rating (growing from a 1.2 rating to a 1.9 rating).

Returning to Monday's 10pm hour for the first time since the end of the season in May, ABC's encore Castle drew 68% more overall viewers than NBC's original Siberia in the time slot. Castle increased from its year-ago broadcast in the hour by 3% in Total Viewers.

Quick Take for Monday, August 26, 2013 (Fast Affiliate Live +Same Day Ratings)

ABC's "Shark Tank" Repeat Grows Week to Week By 10% in Total Viewers and 10% in Adults 18-49

At 9pm, ABC's "Mistresses" is Up Versus the Prior Week In Both Total Viewers (6%) and Adults 18-49 (11%)

In the 10 O'Clock Hour, ABC's "Castle" Encore Leads NBC's Original "Siberia" by 68% in Total Viewers

"Shark Tank" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "Shark Tank" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+10% - 4.6 million vs. 4.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10% - 1.1/3 vs. 1.0/3).

"Mistress" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Shifting back into the 9 o'clock hour for the first time, ABC's "Mistresses" grew over the prior week by 6% in viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.2 million) and by 11% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3). Season to date, the ABC freshman drama delivers an extremely upscale audience (index of 148), pulling in 48% higher numbers with Adults 18-49 in homes earning $150k+ annual income to make it the summer's top indexing broadcast drama. In addition, "Mistresses" is posting the biggest percentage gains via TV playback for any summer broadcast series, jumping 58% from its initially-reported Live + Same Day Adult 18-49 number to its final Live +7 Day rating (growing from a 1.2 rating to a 1.9 rating).

"Castle" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Returning to Monday's 10:00 p.m. hour for the first time since the end of the season in May, ABC's encore "Castle" drew 68% more overall viewers than NBC's original "Siberia" in the time slot (3.2 million vs. 1.9 million). "Castle" increased from its year-ago broadcast in the hour by 3% in Total Viewers (3.1 million on 8/27/12).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 45% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
