"Nightline" is #1 Show in Time Period in Total Viewers for the Week, Beating Both NBC and CBS

"Nightline" Beats CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by Largest Margins in 4 Months in Adults 18-49; Seventh Straight Week Beating CBS in All Key Demos

On Average in New Time Period, "Nightline" Continues to Improve ABC's Year-to-Year Performance in Total Viewers and Leads "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in All Key Measures

ABC News' "Nightline" drew 1.645 million Total Viewers, 689,000 Adults 25-54 and 591,000 Adults 18-49, ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the week of October 14, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. For the 4th time in 4 weeks of the season, "Nightline" outdelivered CBS' "The Late Late Show" across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+215,000), Adults 25-54 (+111,000) and Adults 18-49 (+173,000). Further, "Nightline" has beaten the CBS program in all key target demos for the last 7 weeks. Further, "Nightline" led "The Late Show" by its largest Adults 18-49 advantage in 4 months - since w/o 6/17/13.

On Thursday (10/17/13), "Nightline" claimed the No. 1 telecast of the week in Total Viewers (2.071 million), Adults 25-54 (931,000) and Adults 18-49 (839,000), versus the week's telecasts of CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Further, it was "Nightline's" strongest telecast across all key target demos since June - since 6/13/13, 6/18/13 and 6/20/13, respectively.

On average in its new time period this season, "Nightline" is up over ABC's performance compared to the same weeks last year in Total Viewers (+4%). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" across the board: Total Viewers (+181,000), Adults 25-54 (+82,000) and Adults 18-49 (+88,000).

During the week of October 14th, "Nightline" journeyed into a criminal underworld as Rio de Janeiro prepares to host the World Cup of soccer and the 2016 Olympics; examined the case of a man accused of murdering his wife to make room for his mistress; reported the latest on new information about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann; reported on addiction to Oreos, and on the opening of a new Heart Attack Grill; and featured "Feed Frenzy" - a nightly look at the buzziest stories of the day, among many other reports.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Dan Harris, and Dan Abrams. Juju Chang is a correspondent. Jeanmarie Condon is the executive producer and Almin Karamehmedovic is senior broadcast producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35 a.m., ET to 1:00 a.m. on the ABC Television Network.
