Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Holds Onto Top Spot with "American Idol"

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/26/14):

FOX (9.149 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) held onto the top spot on Wednesday with a new two-hour "American Idol" (9.149 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3).

ABC (6.110 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then snagged the silver with its mix of "The Middle" (7.069 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4), "Suburgatory" (4.869 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6), "Modern Family" (9.693 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1), "Mixology" (4.901 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5) and "Nashville" (5.064 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T8).

Next up was CBS (8.146 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3) with a new "Survivor: Cagayan" (9.756 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2) followed by repeats of "Criminal Minds" (7.287 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6) and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (7.395 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T8).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.677 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) offered up its special "Prince Harry's South Pole Heroes" (3.752 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13) alongside repeats of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.482 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and "Chicago PD" (3.799 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

And finally, a new "Arrow" (2.574 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and week two of "The 100" (2.256 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14) closed out the evening over on The CW (2.415 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Arrow" delivered a 0.8 rating while "100" posted a 0.6 rating.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
