Friday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Edges NBC, CBS in Tight Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/12/14):

ABC (6.133 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the top demo draw on Friday with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.040 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Cristela" (4.540 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10), "Shark Tank" (7.004 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) and "20/20" (6.108 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2).

NBC (5.179 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then was a close second place with its trio of "Dateline NBC" (7.189 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3), "Grimm" (5.054 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) and "Constantine" (3.295 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9).

Next up was CBS (8.597 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) who was also in the hunt with "The Amazing Race" (5.943 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.738 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6) and "Blue Bloods" (11.110 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.758 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up a repeat "MasterChef Junior" (1.694 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) followed by another "MasterChef Junior" (1.822 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

And finally, an encore of "The Librarians" (1.556 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T13) and a second "The Librarians" (1.561 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T13) encore on The CW (1.558 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said duo posted a 0.2 and 0.3 rating, respectively.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/13/13):

ABC (6.090 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) held onto the demo crown on Friday with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.259 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "The Neighbors" (4.144 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10), "Shark Tank" (7.122 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "20/20" (5.948 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2).

CBS (8.976 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the most-watched network powered its lineup of "Undercover Boss" (7.274 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.907 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (10.750 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4).

Next up was NBC (5.259 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with new episodes of "Dateline NBC" (6.115 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8), "Grimm" (5.260 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and a second "Grimm" (4.401 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.761 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up a repeat of "Bones" (3.514 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11) alongside originals from "Raising Hope" (2.117 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12) and another "Raising Hope" (1.902 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

And finally, new episodes of "The Carrie Diaries" (0.784 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "Nikita" (0.625 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) on The CW (0.704 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night.
