"48 HOURS: THE ULTIMATUM" IS SATURDAY'S #1 PROGRAM WITH ADULTS 25-54 AND VIEWERS

"48 Hours" Posts Double-Digit Year-to-Year Percentage Increases From Last Year

48 HOURS: "The Ultimatum" was Saturday's #1 program with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news, and viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for August 8.

48 HOURS: "The Ultimatum" (R) was also #1 at 10:00 PM with adults 25-54, viewers and adults 18-49. The broadcast delivered 4.99 million viewers, a 1.2/04 with adults 25-54 and a 0.8/03 with adults 18-49. Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS was up +20% in adults 25-54, +38% in viewers and +33% in adults 18-49.

"The Ultimatum" was the second part of a 48 HOURS double feature that began at 9:00 PM with an encore of "The Lost Daughter," which was #1 at with viewers (4.47m), adults 25-54 (1.0/04) and adults 18-49 (0.7/03). "The Lost Daughter" was the night's #2 program with viewers, behind "The Ultimatum."

"The Ultimatum" featured Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS' investigation into the murder of Vanessa Mintz, a mother, wife and businesswoman who was gunned down in a family-owned mountain lodge in North Carolina. The investigation into what happened to Mintz would expose a hidden secret and her two daughters, Jessica Freeman and Andrea Little Gray, would emerge as powerful advocates for their mother.

"The Lost Daughter" featured Tracy Smith and 48 HOURS' investigation into the search for Tiffany Sessions, a Florida college student who went out for a walk in 1989 and never returned. The disappearance launched a massive search driven by her father, marketing executive Pat Sessions. Members of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office have not given up, and believe they have a link to the disappearance. The 48 HOURS team has been reporting on Sessions' disappearance for more than six years, and was there when members of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office excavated the trees and underbrush where another student was found dead 22 years earlier. Police believe the same site was a serial killer's burial ground.

48 HOURS: "The Lost Daughter" is produced by Chris Young Ritzen and Tamara Weitzman. Aimee deSimone is the associate producer. Joan Adelman, Gary Winter and Doreen Schechter are the editors. Suzanne Allen is the senior coordinating producer. Kate Harrington is the update producer. Peter Schweitzer is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
