"48 HOURS: THE STRANGE CASE OF KURT SONNENFELD" IS SATURDAY'S #1 PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS

48 HOURS: "The Strange Case of Kurt Sonnenfeld" was Saturday's #1 program with viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Nov. 21.

At 10:00 PM, the broadcast delivered 5.35 million viewers and a 1.4/04 with adults 25-54. The broadcast matched its season-best ratings with adults 25-54 and posted its second-largest audience this season.

Saturday's broadcast featured Erin Moriarty and 48 HOURS' investigation into the death of Nancy Sonnenfeld and the case against her husband Kurt Sonnenfeld, who maintains she committed suicide. Nancy Sonnenfeld died from a gunshot to the head in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2002.

Within hours of Nancy's death, Kurt Sonnenfeld was arrested for her murder. Shortly before Sonnenfeld was to go on trial, prosecutors suddenly dropped the charge, citing insufficient evidence. But the investigation continued and two years later, with additional evidence in hand, prosecutors refiled the murder charge. By then, Sonnenfeld had moved to Argentina, where he remarried and launched a campaign to clear his name by giving interviews to local media. He claims that the real reason U.S. authorities want him back is because he saw something while working as a cameraman at Ground Zero that the government wants him to stop talking about. And now, as 48 HOURS reported, the President of Argentina has refused to extradite Sonnenfeld.

48 HOURS: "The Strange Case of Kurt Sonnenfeld" is produced by Anthony Venditti, Clare Friedland and Alicia Tejada. Atticus Brady, Joan Adelman and Marcus Balsam are the editors. Judy Tygard is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.

48 HOURS: "The Strange Case of Kurt Sonnenfeld" was the second of a Saturday night double feature. The first broadcast at 9:00 PM, "The Accidental Husband," was #1 with viewers (4.39m) in the time period and delivered a 1.1/03 with adults 25-54. The broadcast was the #2 program on Saturday in viewers.

48 HOURS: "The Accidental Husband" was reported by Peter Van Sant and produced by Ruth Chenetz and Lindsey Gutterman. Phil Tangel and Mike Baluzy are the editors. Anthony Batson is the senior broadcast producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
