In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday Night:
· The Dec. 5 telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Ryan Gosling and musical guest Leon Bridges averaged a 4.1 rating, 10 share in households in the 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research and a 2.0/9 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters, to match the show's average for original telecasts last season in 18-49 (2.0 vs. 2.0) while growing +3% versus last season's average in metered-market households (4.1 vs. 4.0).
· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, growing by +48% this season going from "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus seven day" ratings in national adult 18-49 results (from a 1.85 rating to a 2.73).
Saturday Primetime Results:
· From 8-11 p.m., an encore telecast of the 1946 movie classic "It's a Wonderful Life" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers. From its first half-hour to its sixth, "It's a Wonderful Life" grew by +40% in adults 18-49 (from a 0.5 to a 0.7), +57% in adults 25-54 (0.7 to 1.1) and +45% or 1.3 million persons in total viewers (2.9 million to 4.2 million). "It's a Wonderful Life" finished within a tenth of a rating point of last year's Saturday telecast (0.7 on Dec. 6, 2014) and retained 88% in total viewers (3.415 million vs. 3.865 million).
· This is NBC's 39th primetime telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life," directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart, since the movie was brought to broadcast network television in 1994.
