Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Charts with Expanded "The Voice"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/12/16):

NBC (9.315 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with an expanded two-hour "The Voice" (10.707 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) followed by a new "Game of Silence" (6.531 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2).

CBS (9.306 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with its repeat lineup of "NCIS: New Orleans" (9.002 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "NCIS" (9.925 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and another "NCIS: New Orleans" (8.994 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4).

Next up was ABC (2.740 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) and second runs of "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.509 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9) and "The Real O'Neals" (2.727 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10) followed by originals from "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.011 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) and "Beyond the Tank" (2.092 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.013 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) offered up its quartet of "New Girl" (2.631 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #6), a repeat "Grandfathered" (1.651 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2.136 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8) and "The Grinder" (1.634 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

And finally, a new "iZombie" (1.403 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14) and the season finale of "iZombie" (1.228 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14) on The CW (1.316 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/14/15):

CBS (12.873 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) pulled into the top spot with new episodes of "NCIS" (15.401 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (14.058 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and "Person of Interest" (9.161 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6).

The silver then went to NBC (6.349 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) with originals from "The Voice" (10.391 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1), "Undateable" (5.214 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5) and "One Big Happy" (3.671 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #10) plus a repeat "Chicago Fire" (4.215 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12).

Next up was ABC (3.436 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its quartet of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.659 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6), "Repeat After Me" (3.076 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.909 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (2.532 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.739 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) served up fresh installments from "The Flash" (3.500 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8) and "iZombie" (1.978 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #14). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 1.1 rating while the latter delivered a 0.8 rating.

And finally, a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.518 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #9), a repeat "New Girl" (1.329 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #16) and a new "Weird Loners" (1.430 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15) on FOX (2.449 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #5) closed out the evening.
