Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Big Brother" Sparks CBS Victory

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (6/23/16):

CBS (5.025 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) staked claim the top spot on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.192 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Life in Pieces" (5.225 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3), "Big Brother 18" (5.555 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and "Code Black" (3.313 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

ABC (4.128 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was a competitive second place with the return of "BattleBots" (3.859 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), a second "BattleBots" (3.868 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) and a repeat "Celebrity Family Feud" (4.658 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3).

Next up was FOX (3.304 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and its duo of "Bones" (4.415 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Home Free" (2.194 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #12).

Meanwhile, NBC (2.345 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up an encore of "Spartan: Ultimate Team Competition" (2.607 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) followed by the relocated "Spartan: Ultimate Team Competition" (2.663 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8) and a new "Aquarius" (1.766 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13).

And finally, The CW (0.808 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening with a repeat "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (0.778 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and an original "Beauty and the Beast" (0.839 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.0/3 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/25/15):

CBS (6.260 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) claimed top honors on Thursday with a new "Big Brother 17" (6.409 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) followed by the return of "Under the Dome" (6.430 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2) and a second "Under the Dome" (5.942 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4).

FOX (2.933 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then claimed the silver with the debut of "Boom!" (2.510 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #6) and a new "Wayward Pines" (3.357 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4).

Next up was NBC (3.888 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with fresh installments of "Dateline NBC" (6.851 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2), "Aquarius" (3.217 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and "Hannibal" (1.595 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.843 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) served up originals from "The Astronaut Wives Club" (4.504 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7) and "Mistresses" (3.312 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8) followed by the return of "Rookie Blue" (3.714 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

And finally, a new "Beauty and the Beast" (0.903 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) and a repeat "The Vampire Diaries" (0.558 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) on The CW (0.731 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.2 rating at 8:00/7:00c and the latter a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
