Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, "Big Brother" Score Another Victory

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/7/16):

CBS (5.498 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) continued its reign on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.230 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Life in Pieces" (5.274 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3), "Big Brother 18" (6.042 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) and "Code Black" (4.199 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9).

ABC (3.500 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then was the number two draw with originals from "BattleBots" (3.504 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Greatest Hits" (3.659 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) followed by a repeat "Match Game" (3.339 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7).

Next up was NBC (2.749 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) with a repeat "Spartan: Ultimate Team Competition" (3.105 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7) alongside fresh installments of "Spartan: Ultimate Team Competition" (3.218 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Aquarius" (1.925 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.368 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up a second run "Bones" (2.798 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10) and a new "Home Free" (1.939 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10).

And finally, a repeat "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (0.719 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and a new "Beauty and the Beast" (0.805 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) on The CW (0.762 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets (with some preemptions for news coverage), household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.1/5 with an encore telecast; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.7/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," averaged a 1.4/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/4 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/9/15):

CBS (5.785 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) staked claim to the top spot on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (6.841 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) and "Mom" (5.911 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) repeats followed by "Big Brother 17" (5.902 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) and "Under the Dome" (5.078 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4).

FOX (2.760 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then took home the silver with originals from "Boom!" (2.222 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9) and "Wayward Pines" (3.299 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4).

Next up was ABC (3.986 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its trio of "The Astronaut Wives Club" (4.321 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6), "Mistresses" (3.478 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6) and "Rookie Blue" (4.161 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9).

Meanwhile, NBC (2.395 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up fresh installments of "Food Fighters" (3.316 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6), "Aquarius" (2.471 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and "Hannibal" (1.397 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12).

And finally, a new "Beauty and the Beast" (0.901 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) led into the premiere of "Dates" (0.695 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and a second "Dates" (0.523 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.1, #15) on The CW (0.755 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio all posted a 0.2 rating.
