Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, "MacGyver" Stay on Top

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/30/16):

CBS (9.698 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the top draw on Friday thanks to week two of "MacGyver" (9.088 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.620 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (10.389 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2).

ABC (4.592 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was the silver draw with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (5.795 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5), "Dr. Ken" (3.915 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9), "Shark Tank" (4.986 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) and "20/20" (3.934 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8).

Next up was NBC (4.005 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) with an encore of "This Is Us" (2.650 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) and a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (4.683 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.637 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) offered up originals from "Hell's Kitchen" (3.193 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and "The Exorcist" (2.082 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10).

And finally, the season finale of "Masters of Illusion" (1.317 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) and repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (1.333 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.234 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) on The CW (1.279 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3, with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/2/15):

ABC (5.964 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was the demo champ on Friday with a new "Last Man Standing" (6.479 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), the premiere of "Dr. Ken" (6.674 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) and originals from "Shark Tank" (6.729 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and "20/20" (4.587 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6).

The silver then went to CBS (8.720 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) and its trio of "The Amazing Race" (6.035 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.038 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8) and "Blue Bloods" (11.089 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3).

Next up was NBC (4.884 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with an encore of "The Player" (3.504 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.574 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.939 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) went with repeats of "Grandfathered" (2.848 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9), "The Grinder" (2.298 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) and "Scream Queens" (1.306 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12).

And finally, a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.369 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14), the season finale of "Masters of Illusion" (1.393 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) and the relocated "America's Next Top Model" (1.056 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) on The CW (1.218 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.3, 0.3 and 0.4 rating, respectively.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
