Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Edges FOX, ABC in Tight Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/3/17):

CBS (6.776 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) inched out the competition on Wednesday with new episode of "Survivor: Game Changers" (8.113 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T1), "Criminal Minds" (7.224 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T4) and "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (4.990 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

FOX (4.341 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was a close second with fresh installments from "Shots Fired" (3.116 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13) and "Empire" (5.566 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T1).

Next up was ABC (4.749 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its lineup of "The Goldbergs" (5.150 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T4), "Speechless" (4.407 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Modern Family" (5.525 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3), "Black-ish" (4.152 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Designated Survivor" (4.629 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.041 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up originals from "Blindspot" (4.152 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.951 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Chicago PD" (6.022 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

And finally, new episodes of "Arrow" (1.590 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "The 100" (1.066 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15) rounded out the night on The CW (1.327 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.1/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (8.342 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then snagged the number two spot with a new "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (9.387 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3), the season finale of "Criminal Minds" (8.825 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5) and an original "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (6.814 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8).
