"The Late Show" Post Year-to-Year Viewer Growth across All Three
Measurement Periods
THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT placed first for the week, in the May sweep and the full television season, according to Nielsen live plus same day and most current ratings.
In the week ending May 26, THE LATE SHOW topped "The Tonight Show" in viewers (2.96m vs. 2.61m, +13%) for the 17th consecutive week for the first time since the week ending Sept. 25, 2009 to the week ending Jan. 15, 2010. LATE SHOW tied "Tonight" in adults 18-34.
Compared to the same week last year, THE LATE SHOW was up +43% in viewers (from 2.07m), +25% in adults 18-49 (0.5 from 0.4) and +17% in adults 25-54 (0.7 from 0.6).
In the May 2017 sweep, THE LATE SHOW was up +25% in viewers (3.01m from 2.41m) compared to last May and beat "The Tonight Show" by +12% (vs. 2.68m).
For the 2016-2017 television season (most current), THE LATE SHOW was up +12% in viewers (3.22m from 2.89m), beating "The Tonight Show" in viewers (vs. 3.17m, +2%) and finishing as the #1 11:35 PM program.
