Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Got Talent" Rises, Holds Off Competition

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/6/17):

NBC (6.351 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) held off the competition on Wednesday with its mix of "America's Got Talent" (11.682 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1), "Marlon" (5.475 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3), another "Marlon" (3.686 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) and the special season finale of "Hollywood Game Night" (2.791 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

FOX (3.799 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) was a close second with its mainstay "MasterChef" (3.799 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

Third then went to CBS (4.337 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with originals from "Big Brother 19" (6.323 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "Salvation" (3.482 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) plus a repeat "Criminal Minds" (3.207 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.517 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up repeats of "The Goldbergs" (3.037 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "Speechless" (2.326 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9), "Modern Family" (2.815 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "American Housewife" (2.634 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9), another "Modern Family" (2.315 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and another "The Goldbergs" (1.977 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12).

And finally, The CW (0.774 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) likewise rounded out the night with "Arrow" (0.774 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) and "Supernatural" (0.775 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.76/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/7/16):

NBC (8.798 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the Wednesday champ thanks to its mix of "Commander-in-Chief Forum" (10.770 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2), "America's Got Talent" (10.473 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) and "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (5.152 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5).

FOX (4.293 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the number two draw with the penultimate week of "MasterChef" (4.293 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4).

Next up was CBS (3.730 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with new episodes of "Big Brother 18" (5.967 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2), "American Gothic" (2.665 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12) and the season finale of "American Gothic" (2.559 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13).
