Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: Comedies Pave the Way for CBS Victory

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/11/18):

CBS (9.833 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was Thursday's top draw thanks to new episodes from "The Big Bang Theory" (15.649 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1), "Young Sheldon" (14.018 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2), "Mom" (9.534 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3), "Life in Pieces" (7.135 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5) and "SWAT" (6.330 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6).

Second place then went to ABC (5.580 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) with an encore of "Child Support" (3.486 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13) followed by "Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story" (6.627 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4).

Next up was FOX (3.274 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with week two of "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (3.088 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11) followed by a second "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (3.462 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.987 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up originals from "Superstore" (3.853 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "The Good Place" (3.093 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #10), "Will & Grace" (4.131 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Great News" (2.394 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14) and "Chicago Fire" (5.225 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

And finally, The CW (1.273 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) rounded out the night with "The 23rd Annual Critics' Choice Awards" (1.273 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/4.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (6.848 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (10.190 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) followed by new episodes of "The Great Indoors" (7.246 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Mom" (7.334 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3), "Life in Pieces" (5.926 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and "Pure Genius" (5.196 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

NBC (5.335 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) then was a close second with its mix of "Superstore" (4.311 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "The Good Place" (3.629 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8), "Chicago Med" (6.752 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and "The Blacklist" (5.283 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Sharing the silver was FOX (3.237 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) with a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.902 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and the premiere of "My Kitchen Rules" (2.572 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

Next up was ABC (5.256 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) with the season finale of "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (5.138 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) plus the special "Taking the Stage: Changing America" (5.315 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

And finally, repeats of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.115 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and "Supernatural" (0.809 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) closed out the night for The CW (0.962 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
