ABC Delivers 3 of the Season's Top 5 Broadcast Entertainment Shows With the No. 1 Comedy, the No. 1 New Drama and 5 of the Top 10 Comedies

'The Good Doctor,' 'Roseanne' and 'Idol' Post Huge Time-Slot Improvement

ABC's Prime-time Numbers Surge 55% via TV Playback With a Best-Ever 5 Series Delivering Triple-Digit Gains from L+SD to L+7

ABC Prime Time 2017-18 (09/25/17-5/23/18 - Most Current Program Ratings)

· ABC Posts Its Most Competitive Season in 10 Years: Based on all programming, ABC moved up to rank No. 2 for the 2017-18 season in Adults 18-49 (1.5/6-tie), climbing from No. 4 the prior season. To make this happen, ABC rallied as the No. 1 network on average from the conclusion of the Olympics in February through the end of the season in May. By finishing No. 2 during 2017-18, ABC posted its most competitive season in 10 years - since tying for No. 2 during the 2007-08 season.

· Season's Highest-Rated TV Series: The Net delivered 7 of the Top 20 entertainment series on broadcast TV this season in Adults 18-49, landing 3 in the Top 5, including the No. 1 comedy with "Roseanne" and the No. 1 new drama with "The Good Doctor": "Roseanne" (5.0 rating) - No. 2, "The Good Doctor" (3.4 rating) - No. 4, "Grey's Anatomy" (3.3 rating) - No. 5, "The Bachelor" (2.4 rating) - No. 11, "Modern Family" (2.3 rating) - No. 12, while "American Idol-SUN" (2.1 rating) and "Scandal" (2.1 rating) tie at No. 17. ABC freshman "The Good Doctor" was the season's No. 1 new drama, as well as the No. 1 10 o'clock TV series in both viewers and young adults. It was also the No. 1 freshman series in Adults 18-49, moving past CBS' "Young Sheldon."

· ABC Leads the Season's Comedy Rankings: With "Roseanne" emerging to lead the pack, ABC claimed 5 of the season's Top 10 comedies - the most for any net: "Roseanne" (5.0 rating) - No. 1, "Modern Family" (2.3 rating) - No. 5, "The Middle" (1.9 rating) - No. 7, "Splitting Up Together" (1.8 rating) and "The Goldbergs" (1.8 rating) tie at No. 9.

· Shows Improving Time Periods: In Adults 18-49, ABC's "The Good Doctor" (+162%), "Roseanne" (+213%), "black-ish" (+13%), "Splitting Up Together" (+64%) and "American Idol-SUN" (+91%) each improved their respective time periods by strong margins year to year. In addition, ABC's primetime delivery was up this season on both Monday (+5%) and Sunday (+7%) nights.

· TV's Top 3-Hour Drama Block with Young Adults: Opposite CBS' and NBC's Thursday Night Football, ABC's Thursday drama lineup dominated its entertainment competition on the night and ranked as the No. 1 three-hour drama block on TV with young adults (2.4/10), out of 5 blocks total.

· ABC Series Among Most Popularly Recorded and Played Back: On average during prime time, ABC's numbers for original programming jumped from the first-reported Live + Same Day averages to the finalized Live + 7 Day ratings by 40% in Total Viewers (4.8 million to 6.7 million) and by 55% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 to 1.7/7), qualifying as the biggest gainer on the major nets among young adults. ABC's series remained the most popular in TV playback this season, as it delivered 5 of the Top 10 biggest broadcast gainers among Adults 18-49 and the Top 2 gainers in Total Viewers with "Roseanne" and "The Good Doctor." A total of 11 ABC series added 2 million viewers or more from their initially reported totals via time-shifted viewing: "Roseanne" (+7.1 million), "The Good Doctor" (+6.9 million), "Designated Survivor" (+4.5 million), "Grey's Anatomy" (+3.6 million), "Modern Family" (+3.2 million), "How to Get Away with Murder" (+2.7 million), "Station 19" (+2.6 million), "Scandal" (+2.6 million), "The Crossing" (+2.5 million), "For The People" (+2.1 million) and "Deception" (+2.1 million). Among Adults 18-49, 6 of ABC's series registered substantial ratings increases of at least 1.0 rating point: "Roseanne" (+2.4 rating), "The Good Doctor" (+1.8 rating), "Grey's Anatomy" (+1.5 rating), "Modern Family" (+1.3 rating), "HTGAWM" (+1.1 rating) and "Scandal" (+1.0 rating). In addition for the first time ever, 5 of ABC's series delivered triple-digit percentage increases among Adults 18-49: "S.H.I.E.L.D." (+140%), "Designated Survivor" (+129%), "HTGAWM" (+122%), "The Good Doctor" (+100%) and "Inhumans" (+100%).
