Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Got Talent" Results in NBC Victory

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/5/18):

NBC (6.701 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was the network to beat on Wednesday with a new "America's Got Talent" (9.732 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) and the penultimate week of "World of Dance" (5.186 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3).

FOX (3.362 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then was the silver draw with a two-hour "MasterChef" (3.362 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4).

Next up was CBS (3.752 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with a new "Big Brother 20" (5.449 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) followed by repeats of "SEAL Team" (2.699 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and "Criminal Minds" (3.109 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.262 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up its repeat lineup of "The Goldbergs" (2.843 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5), "American Housewife" (2.323 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "Modern Family" (2.471 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), another "American Housewife" (2.045 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and "Shark Tank" (1.946 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

And finally, a new "Burden of Truth" (0.663 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T12) and the special "Back to School Just for Laughs" (0.487 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T12) on The CW (0.575 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.1, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/6/17):

NBC (6.351 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) held off the competition on Wednesday with its mix of "America's Got Talent" (11.682 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1), "Marlon" (5.475 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3), another "Marlon" (3.686 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) and the special season finale of "Hollywood Game Night" (2.791 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

FOX (3.799 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) was a close second with its mainstay "MasterChef" (3.799 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

Third then went to CBS (4.337 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with originals from "Big Brother 19" (6.323 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "Salvation" (3.482 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) plus a repeat "Criminal Minds" (3.207 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12).
