Monday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Edges NBC in Tight Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/21/19):

ABC (6.041 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) inched past the demo competition on Monday with originals from "The Bachelor" (5.957 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) and "The Good Doctor" (6.209 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

NBC (8.241 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was a close second with fresh installments from "America's Got Talent: The Champions" (9.662 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) and "Manifest" (5.399 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

Next up was CBS (5.783 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) with the season premiere of "Celebrity Big Brother" (5.396 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) followed by new episodes of "Magnum P.I." (5.268 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9) and "Bull" (6.686 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.836 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) served up a new "The Resident" (5.369 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) followed by week two of "The Passage" (4.302 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

And finally, the return of "Arrow" (1.253 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10) and "Black Lightning" (0.875 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) on The CW (1.064 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/22/18):

ABC (7.378 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was still the network to beat on Monday with new episodes from "The Bachelor" (6.321 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) and "The Good Doctor" (9.493 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2).

Second place then went to CBS (5.796 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) with originals from "Kevin Can Wait" (7.290 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3), "Man with a Plan" (6.631 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "Superior Donuts" (5.699 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6), "9JKL" (4.733 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) and "Scorpion" (5.212 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

Sharing the silver was FOX (4.223 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) with a new "Lucifer" (3.779 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and the time period premiere of "The Resident" (4.667 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.647 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up fresh installments of "The Wall" (5.719 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "Better Late Than Never" (4.835 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and "The Brave" (3.387 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12).
