Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Takes Home Top Honors in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/8/19):

CBS (7.359 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) was the top draw on Friday with its mix of its "CBS News Special: The Gayle King Interview with R. Kelly" (6.600 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1), "Hawaii Five-0" (7.237 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (8.240 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3).

ABC (3.573 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) then was the number two draw with originals from "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.087 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "Speechless" (2.238 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and "20/20" (4.028 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Next up was FOX (3.270 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and its lineup of "Last Man Standing" (5.398 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "The Cool Kids" (3.892 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) and "Proven Innocent" (1.896 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.403 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up new episodes of "Blindspot" (3.146 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9), "The Blacklist" (3.813 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "Dateline NBC" (3.250 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

And finally, The CW (0.916 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night with repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.950 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.901 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.906 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.3/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/9/18):

CBS (8.056 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) was still the network to beat on Friday with its trio of "MacGyver" (6.892 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (7.982 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (9.295 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1).

FOX (2.650 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then was the silver draw among adults 18-49 with a new "MasterChef Junior" (3.358 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and a repeat "9-1-1" (1.943 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

Next up was ABC (2.704 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) and originals from "Once Upon a Time" (2.363 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.151 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5) and "20/20" (3.600 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (2.690 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) served up its mix of "Blindspot" (3.217 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5), "Taken" (2.581 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and the "NBC News Special: Confronting Putin" (2.273 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

And finally, the relocated "Dynasty" (0.659 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) and a new "Jane the Virgin" (0.598 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) on The CW (0.628 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the evening.
