'Nightline' Increases Week to Week and Year to Year Across the Board

Season to Date, 'Nightline' Grows in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, Posting Its Strongest Numbers in 3 Years

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 (239,000) and Adults 18-49 (186,000) for the week of Jan. 15, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" beat CBS' series debut of "After Midnight" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in both measures.

"Nightline" improved week to week in Total Viewers (+16% - 883,000 vs. 762,000), Adults 25-54 (+48% - 239,000 vs. 161,000) and Adults 18-49 (+119% - 186,000 vs. 85,000). "Nightline" delivered its strongest numbers in Adults 18-49 since November - since w/o 11/20/23.

"Nightline" also grew year to year in Total Viewers (+5% - 883,000 vs. 837,000), Adults 25-54(+31% - 239,000 vs. 183,000) and Adults 18-49 (+48% - 186,000 vs. 132,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+6% - 955,000 vs. 900,000) and Adults 25-54 (+5% - 233,000 vs. 222,000), posting its strongest numbers in 3 years - since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, "Nightline" covered the Iowa caucuses results and the 2024 race for the White House; the world's dangerous black markets; the Texas immigrant community feeling on edge as a controversial law looms; new developments in the Scott Peterson case; Ava DuVernay exploring America's "caste" in her new film; "Impact x Nightline"'s newest episode exploring the public's decades-long obsession with UFOs and extraterrestrial life and more.

NOTE: CBS' "After Midnight" debuted on Tuesday (1/16/24). On Friday (1/19/24), "After Midnight" was retitled to "After Midnight-ENC" due to being a repeat. On Monday (1/15/24), Tuesday (1/16/24) and Friday (1/19/24), NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Late Night with Seth Meyers-SM" due to being a repeat. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS' weekly averages are based on three days (Tuesday-Thursday), while NBC's weekly averages are based on two days (Wednesday-Thursday).
