Top 10 Week of Jan. 22: 'Griselda' Debuts at #1; 'Leave the World Behind' and 'BERLIN' Enter the Most Popular Lists
Griselda, the new critically acclaimed limited series starring and executive produced by SofĂa Vergara, was La Jefa (The Boss) of the English TV List, debuting at #1 with 20.6M views. The series, created by Eric Newman, directed by Andres Baiz and inspired by the life of notorious cartel boss Griselda Blanco, was #1 in 89 countries and the most watched title of the week. Leave the World Behind, Sam Esmail's apocalyptic thriller starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke and Mahershala Ali, entered the Most Popular English Films List at #8 with 136.3M views in its first 52 days on Netflix. Money Heist spin-off series BERLIN (Spain), which took second place on the Top 10 Non-English TV List (2.8M views), also entered the Most Popular Non-English TV List at #10 with 50.1M views in its first 31 days on Netflix. The franchise now holds four spots on the Most Popular List, also including Money Heist Parts 3, 4 and 5.
Lift, starring Kevin Hart, spent its third week atop the English Films List with 17.4M views. Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya's dystopian directorial debut The Kitchen took third place with 7.7M views. Adam Sandler's animated comedy Leo celebrated its tenth week on the list, clocking in at #10 with 2.9M views.
Action-adventure Badland Hunters (Korea) debuted at #1 on the Non-English Films List with 14.3M views. Action drama Sixty Minutes (Germany) claimed second place with 13.5M views. Best International Film Oscar(R) nominee Society of the Snow (Spain), from director J.A. Bayona, spent its fourth week on the list in third place with 10.6M views, taking its total views since release to 75M.
American Nightmare, the docuseries that investigates a case the press dubbed 'the real-life Gone Girl,' came in at #2 on the English TV List with 13M views. Adaptations had another strong week on the list with Harlan Coben's crime thriller Fool Me Once taking third place with 7.6M views and family drama Boy Swallows Universe claiming seventh place with 1.7M views. Making their list debuts were the second season of heartwarming docuseries Love on the Spectrum US at #4 (3M views) and animated comic book adaptation Masters of the Universe: Revolution at #9 (1.5M views). Action drama The Brothers Sun took #6 (1.9M views) in its fourth week on the list and My Life with the Walter Boys took #10 in its eighth week on the list (1.5M views).
Limited mystery series The Bequeathed (Korea) rose to the top of the Non-English TV List with 3.1M views. Two romantic dramas from Korea entered the list; Captivating the King at #7 (1.5M views) and Doctor Slump at #9 (1.4M views).
