Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC's "Modern Family" is the Week's #1 Series for the 2nd Week in a Row

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 2/13/12 (Week #22):

Based on Live + 7 Day ratings for the week, ABC's Modern Family emerged as TV's #1 series for the 2nd straight week in Adults 18-49 (7.4 rating), leading Fox's American Idol-Weds by 3% (7.2) and American Idol-Thurs by 14% (6.5) and NBC's The Voice by 6% (7.0). For its 4th consecutive original telecast, Modern Family also moved ahead of CBS' The Big Bang Theory in the Live + 7 Day numbers, leapfrogging over the CBS sitcom to lead by 7-tenths of a rating point in Adults 18-49 (7.4 vs. 6.7). Initially in the Live + Same Day statistics, Modern Family finished behind both editions of American Idol, The Voice, and The Big Bang Theory in the young adult demo.

Based on Nielsen's final ratings, Disney-owned Once Upon a Time solidified its rank as TV's top-rated freshman drama in Adults 18-49 (4.2 rating), topping runner-up CBS' Person of Interest by 5% (4.0) and NBC's Smash by 11% (3.8).

· With a record-setting 5.46 million viewer jump (11.25 million to 16.71 million) and a 2.7 ratings build (4.7 to 7.4) over its initial numbers, Modern Family topped the charts for its 13th straight original telecast in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. In fact, Modern Family marked its 3rd original telecast in a row to gain a record 2.7 rating points.

· ABC had 8 shows gain more than 2 million viewers from their initially reported totals via time-shifted viewing: Modern Family (+5.46 million), Castle (+3.31 million), Grey's Anatomy (+3.25 million), Body of Proof (+2.93 million), Revenge (+2.67 million), Private Practice (+2.62 million), Once Upon a Time (+2.61 million) and Desperate Housewives (+2.18 million).

· Among Adults 18-49, ABC saw 6 series add on at least a full rating point over their initially reported numbers: Modern Family (+2.7 rating - 4.7 to 7.4), Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating - 3.2 to 4.7), Private Practice (+1.2 rating - 2.6 to 3.8), Revenge (+1.2 rating - 2.4 to 3.6), Once Upon a Time (+1.1 rating - 3.1 to 4.2) and Desperate Housewives (+1.0 rating - 2.2 to 3.2).

Season-to-Date DVR Playback (9/19/11-2/19/12):

On average for the 2011-12 season, ABC's Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy are the season's Top 2 biggest gainers via time-shifted viewing among Adults 18-49 (picking up 2.5 rating points and 1.6 rating points, respectively), while the ABC sitcom continues to rank as the season's biggest overall gainer among Total Viewers (+4.85 million).

· With Modern Family (8.0 rating) and Grey's Anatomy (5.3), ABC claims this season's #1 scripted series/comedy and #1 drama, respectively, in the key young adult demo based on original telecasts. In fact, the ABC sitcom is the season's #2 program overall in Adults 18-49 (tied with NBC's Sunday Night Football), behind only NBC's Super Bowl-boosted The Voice (9.4).
