Live+7 Ratings: ABC's "Modern Family" is the Week's #1 TV Series for its 5th Straight Original

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 3/12/12 (Week #26):

Based on the Live + 7 Day ratings for the week, ABC's Modern Family emerged as TV's #1 series for its 5th consecutive original telecast in Adults 18-49 (7.0 rating), moving ahead of NBC's The Voice to lead by 13% (6.2). The ABC sitcom also surged ahead of Fox's American Idol-Weds (6.4) and stood nearly two full rating points ahead of American Idol-Thurs (+1.8 rating points - 7.0 vs. 5.2) in the final Live + 7 Day numbers. Initially in the Live + Same Day statistics, Modern Family ranked behind The Voice and both editions of American Idol.

· Based on Nielsen's DVR playback data for the week, ABC claimed the Top 2 biggest gainers among Adults 18-49 with Modern Family (+2.5 rating) and Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating), and the biggest new drama gainer with Once Upon a Time (+1.1 rating). The ABC sitcom topped the charts for its 16th straight original telecast in both Total Viewers and young adults.

· ABC had 5 shows gain more than 2 million viewers from their initially reported totals via time-shifted viewing, including 3 of the top 5 biggest overall gainers: Modern Family (+4.82 million), Grey's Anatomy (+2.83 million), Body of Proof (+2.58 million), Once Upon a Time (+2.27 million) and Private Practice (+2.02 million).

· Among Adults 18-49, ABC saw 4 series add on at least a full rating point over their initially reported numbers (the most for any network): Modern Family (+2.5 rating - 4.5 to 7.0), Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating - 3.0 to 4.5), Once Upon a Time (+1.1 rating - 2.9 to 4.0) and Private Practice (+1.0 rating - 2.1 to 3.1).

Season-to-Date DVR Playback (9/19/11-3/18/12):

On average for the 2011-12 season, ABC's Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy are the season's Top 2 biggest gainers via time-shifted viewing among Adults 18-49 (picking up 2.5 rating points and 1.5 rating points, respectively), while the ABC sitcom is the season's biggest overall gainer among Total Viewers (+4.89 million).

· With Modern Family (7.8 rating) and Grey's Anatomy (5.2), ABC claims this season's #1 scripted series/comedy and #1 drama, respectively, in the key young adult demo based on original telecasts. In fact, Modern Family now leads NBC's The Voice (7.7) to stand as the #1 entertainment program of the season and is within 2-tenths of a rating point of tying NBC's Sunday Night Football (8.0) to qualify as the season's #1 program overall.
