Friday's Broadcast Ratings: "Shark Tank" Finale Paves the Way for ABC Victory

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/16/14):

ABC (8.380 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the network to beat on Friday thanks to the season finale of "Shark Tank" (6.491 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) and the two-hour special "Barbara Walters: Her Story" (9.324 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1).

NBC (4.909 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "Dateline NBC" (6.861 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3), the season finale of "Grimm" (5.390 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) and a new "Hannibal" (2.475 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

Next up was CBS (6.074 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and repeats of "Hawaii Five-0" (5.322 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8), another "Hawaii Five-0" (6.020 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8) and "Blue Bloods" (6.881 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.010 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up an encore of "24: Live Another Day" (1.623 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) and the season finale of "Kitchen Nightmares" (2.397 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

And finally, The CW (1.335 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the evening with a new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.777 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10), a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.537 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and the season finale of "Hart of Dixie" (1.012 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Whose Line" posted a 0.6 rating at 8:00/7:00c and 0.6 rating at 8:30/7:30c while "Dixie" managed a 0.6 rating.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/5 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (5.720 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the top draw on Friday with its mix of a new "Shark Tank" (4.996 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4), the season finale of "Shark Tank" (6.571 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) and a new "20/20" (5.593 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2).

NBC (5.207 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.274 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) alongside an original "Rock Center With Brian Williams" (5.073 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3).

Next up was CBS (4.918 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with the season finale of "Undercover Boss" (5.382 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) followed by a repeat of "Undercover Boss" (5.003 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and a special "48 Hours" (4.369 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.182 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up repeats of "Kitchen Nightmares" (1.908 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9) and "Bones" (2.457 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10).
