Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC Moves Up to #1 for the Week among Adults 18-49

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 11/18/13 (Week #9):

Please note: ABC's regular Sunday lineup was pre-empted this week for the AMAs.

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data, ABC grew to a 3.0 rating among Adults 18-49 in the final Live + 7 Day numbers, building by 30% over its first-reported Live + Same Day rating. ABC moved into a tie with NBC to rank as the week's #1 network among Adults 18-49 in the L+7 numbers, after finishing 3-tenths of a rating point behind in the L+SD ratings. Based on non-sports programming, ABC is the #1 network this season among Adults 18-49 (2.81 rating), beating CBS (2.75), NBC (2.73) and Fox (2.38).

ABC claimed 4 of the week's Top 5 biggest broadcast gainers among Adults 18-49, with each show adding on more than +1.5 rating points: Modern Family (+2.1 rating points) - #2, Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating points) - #3, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.6 rating points) and Scandal (+1.6 rating points) - tied at #4. Scandal was the week's biggest gainer for any 10pm series among Adults 18-49. ABC also had 4 of the 10 biggest overall gainers on the broadcast networks: Modern Family (+4.6 million), Castle (+4.4 million), Scandal (+3.9 million) and Grey's Anatomy (+3.6 million).

For the second week in a row, Modern Family scored its largest TV playback gain of the season, spiking 62% over its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating.

In the final Live + 7 Day ratings, ABC delivered 3 of the week's Top 10 highest-rated broadcast shows in Adults 18-49 (versus 1 in the initial Live+SD ratings): Modern Family (5.5 rating) moved up to #4 (from #6), Scandal shot up to #5 (from #11) and Grey's Anatomy jumped up to #7 (from #15). In fact, Scandal and Grey's ranked as the week's Top 2 broadcast dramas among Adults 18-49, moving ahead of CBS' NCIS (3.9) and Criminal Minds (4.2).

· ABC's S.H.I.E.L.D. moved ahead of CBS' NCIS among Adults 18-49 in the final L+7 ratings (4.0 vs. 3.9). Initially in the Live + Same Day ratings, the ABC drama was six-tenths of a rating point behind NCIS.

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/23/13-11/24/13):

Based on TV playback data for the 2013-14 season, ABC continues to claim the most Top 10 playback gainers of any broadcast network in Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers. With each show adding on at least +1.5 rating points in Adults 18-49 to their L+7 Day numbers, ABC has 4 of the season's 10 biggest TV playback gainers on the broadcast networks: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.9 rating points), Modern Family (+1.9 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating points) and Scandal (+1.5 rating points). ABC claims 5 of the 10 biggest overall gainers on the broadcast networks: Castle (+4.3 million), Modern Family (+4.2 million), Grey's (+4.0 million), S.H.I.E.L.D. (+4.0 million) and Scandal (+3.9 million).

Nearly all of ABC's key returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: Castle (+57% vs. +50%), Dancing with the Stars (+20% vs. +14%), Grey's Anatomy (+62% vs. +51%), Modern Family (+49% vs. +45%), Nashville (+71% vs. +62%), The Neighbors (+30% vs. +15%), Once Upon a Time (+52% vs. +42%), Revenge (+59% vs. +44%), Scandal (+48% vs. +45%) and Shark Tank (+32% vs. +21%).

· Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday's #1 TV show this season with Adults 18-49 based on original telecasts, beating NBC's The Voice by 4% (4.8 rating vs. 4.6 rating). In fact, based on first-run telecasts in the L7 Adult 18-49 ratings, ABC claims the season's #1 TV show on Tuesday (S.H.I.E.L.D. - 4.8 rating), the #1 show on Wednesday (Modern Family - 5.8), the #2 and #3 shows on Thursday (Grey's - 4.7 - and Scandal - 4.6) and the #2 show on Friday (Shark Tank - 2.5).

· Modern Family is the season's #2 scripted series among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (5.8).

· ABC's S.H.I.E.L.D (4.8), Grey's Anatomy (4.7) and Scandal (4.6) are the season's #2, #3 and #4 broadcast dramas, respectively, among Adults 18-49.
