CBS Sweeps the Final Week of the Television Year

CBS SWEEPS THE FINAL WEEK OF THE TELEVISION YEAR

Network First in Viewers and Key Demos, Led By "Under the Dome" and "Big Brother" Finales, "Survivor" Premiere and the Largest Emmy Award Audience in Eight Years

CBS won the final week of the television year in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, led by the season finales of UNDER THE DOME and BIG BROTHER, the season premiere of SURVIVOR and capped off by the 65TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS, which garnered its largest audience in eight years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sept. 22.

The season finale of UNDER THE DOME posted its largest audience (12.10m) since its series premiere and earned its best key demo performances since late July.

The premiere of SURVIVOR swept its time period in viewers and key demographics with gains from last spring's edition, while the 65TH ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS (S) posted its largest audience since 2005 and best demos since 2006.

Overall, CBS had 10 of the top 20 broadcasts in viewers.

For the week in viewers: CBS (9.09m), NBC (7.49m), ABC (5.36m) and FOX (4.43m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (2.9/08) and adults 18-49 (2.3/07). Compared to the same week last year (when the network did not air the Emmy Awards), CBS was up +16% in both viewers and adults 25-54 and +21% in adults 18-49.

CBS Weekly Highlights:

65th ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS (S) (8:04-11:12 PM) posted 17.76m viewers, 5.8/14 in adults 25-54, 4.9/13 in adults 18-49 and 4.5/14 in adults 18-34. Compared to last year's ceremony, 65th ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS was up +21% in adults 25-54 (from 4.8/11), +26% in adults 18-49 (from 3.9/10), +50% in adults 18-34 (from 3.0/09) and added +4.50m viewers (from 13.26m, +34%). 65th ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS posted its best delivery in viewers since Sept. 18, 2005 (on CBS and when it did not air against football on NBC) and in adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 since 2006 (when it aired in August on NBC). CBS Research estimates approximately 40 million viewers watched all or part of the broadcast.

UNDER THE DOME was first in viewers (12.10m), adults 25-54 (3.7/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/08) with its season one finale. UNDER THE DOME posted its best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 ratings since July 29 and its largest audience since the June 24 series premiere. Compared to last week, UNDER THE DOME was up +19% in households (from 6.3/11), +28% in adults 25-54 (from 2.9/08), +33% in adults 18-49 (from 2.1/06) and added +2.38m viewers (from 9.72m, +25%).

SURVIVOR (8:00-9:30 PM) was first in viewers (9.73m), adults 25-54 (3.6/10) and adults 18-49 (2.6/08). SURVIVOR was the night's top broadcast in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. Compared to the winter premiere (on Feb. 13), SURVIVOR was up +6% in adults 25-54 (from 3.4/09), +8% in adults 18-49 (from 2.4/07) and added +790,000 viewers (from 8.94m, +9%).

The BIG BROTHER season finale (9:30-11:00 PM) was second in viewers (6.71m), adults 25-54 (2.9/07) and adults 18-49 (2.5/07).
