ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR 2ND CONSECUTIVE WEEK

Season to Date, 'Nightline' is Up in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, Posting Its Strongest Numbers in 3 Years

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (756,000) for the week of Jan. 1, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading CBS' "Comics Unleashed" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" for the 2ndstraight week.

For the 2nd week in a row, "Nightline" was up on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+5% - 756,000 vs. 721,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+7% - 962,000 vs. 895,000) and Adults 25-54 (+6% - 236,000 vs. 223,000), posting its strongest numbers in 3 years - since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, "Nightline" covered ABC News and ESPN Films' new documentary "21: Loyal and True," which follows the Uvalde High School football team through their season after tragedy struck the town; ABC News anchor Deborah Roberts' sit down interview with Gypsy Rose Blanchard following her release from prison; Oscar Pistorius being released from prison on parole; the hunt for alleged COVID loan fraudsters; the recent "Golden Bachelor" wedding and more.

NOTE: On Monday (1/1/24), "Nightline" was retitled to "NL" and CBS' "Comics Unleashed" was coded as a special due to New Year's Day. The retitled and specialed telecasts are excluded from the weekly averages. For the week, NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Late Night with Seth Meyers-SM" due to being repeats. ABC's and CBS' weekly averages are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday).
